Iranian judoka Leila (Arienne Mandi) and her coach Maryam (Zar Amir) arrive at the World Judo Championships in Tbilisi determined to win a gold medal for Iran. However, during the championship, an ultimatum comes from the highest places of the Islamic Republic: Leila must fake an injury and lose, otherwise she will be branded a traitor to the nation. Her and her family's freedom is at stake, and Leila is faced with a life-changing decision - should she submit to the Iranian regime, as her trainer swears her to do, or fight on, for gold? Tatami is the first feature film co-directed by an Israeli and an Iranian woman.
