TEREZA BUREŠOVÁ: VRSTVY TĚLA / LAYERS OF THE BODY

The exhibition Layers of the Body brings a visual reflection of corporeality as a space of memory, relationships and experience. The author works with analogue collage, tracing paper, handmade paper, felt, cork, textiles and drawing. In her presentation, the body is fragmented, layered, abstracted – and yet deeply present. She explores it as a physical and mental entity, carrying emotions, experience, memories and intimate encounters. The layers of individual collages, hung in space or presented on a felt base, are a metaphor not only for the structure of the body itself, but also for its psychological dimension – layers of meaning, silence, memory.

The installation includes both small works and larger collages, a series of posters in various color variants, and photographs capturing the creative process. Some elements will be physically reconstructed on site – the artist works with variable groupings of elements, which she combines according to the spatial possibilities of the given gallery. The haptic aspect also plays an important role – materials such as felt, cork, handmade paper, or textiles are not only carriers of aesthetic qualities, but also become mediators of tactile memory, evoking sensory layers of presence.

The exhibition is also a visual prelude to the dance-acrobatic performance The Answer . Like the performance, the collage installation works with the body as the basic language of storytelling – a language that is articulated in silence, movement and composition.

The installation is open, alive, responsive to the space and the viewer. It offers the possibility not only of contemplation, but also of movement between the layers, of entering the image. Perhaps it is here, in these ambiguous intersections, that lies the answer we are trying to find – in the image, in the body, in ourselves.

The opening will take place on Tuesday, May 27th from 5:00 PM, admission is free.
